Ozaukee County spoke loudly and clearly last week for Joe Voiland as Circuit Court Judge by a 26-point margin: 63 percent to 37 percent.

Joe and the entire team extend our sincere thanks. This kind of decisive victory happens only with a strong combination of winning elements: a qualified, passionate candidate willing to take his message to the people, a team of dedicated supporters and volunteers, and an electorate unwilling to sit idly by.

Another element to our success was ensuring that the people of Ozaukee Country were well informed. Together, Joe and the campaign team knocked on thousands of doors, made sure the mailboxes were filled with campaign information and that throughout all of the 1,116 square miles that is Ozaukee County, the campaign was visible and worked diligently to get conservative voters to the polls.

While the results getting our message out were evident last Tuesday, unfortunately the campaign has debt. The message had to get out, voters had to be contacted and mail had to be paid for in advance.

We now face the challenge of paying off the nearly $50,000 gap between funds raised and spent to date. Can you help us settle our debts by donating $25, $50, or $100?

We are proud to have communicated with as many voters as quickly and efficiently as we did, and believe that the results speak for themselves. Thank you again for all your support and congratulations on your part in the decisive victory for Judge-Elect Joe Voiland.

Thanks,

Election Day is here. People from across our state will be casting a ballot for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice.

Here in Ozaukee County, we have an additional opportunity to defend the integrity of our judicial system. I am challenging Judge Tom Wolfgram in tomorrow’s election. Since declaring my candidacy, I have made the case that judges should not play politics. By signing the Walker Recall Petition, Judge Tom Wolfgram publicly injected himself into one of the most bitterly partisan events in our state’s history. The people of this county deserve better judgment.

As I’ve made my way from door to door throughout the county, I’ve been encouraged by enthusiastic support. I’ve been honored and humbled by the broad range of endorsements I’ve received from non-partisan Ozaukee County Supervisors, school board members, assistant district attorneys, aldermen, town supervisors and village trustees, in addition to Senator Alberta Darling and Assemblymen Jim Ott, Duey Stroebel, and Dan Knodl.

The people of our county need a judge who is impartial and displays good judgment. My experience handling cases in Wisconsin’s Circuit Courts, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the Federal District Courts, and the Federal Court of Appeals, my time as a Special Prosecutor, and my prior service in Iraq, has made me ready to be that judge.

I am asking for your vote today. We can defend the integrity of our judicial system from partisan judges who play politics, but we can only do it if you make your way to the polls, cast your vote for Joe Voiland for Circuit Court Judge, and then ask your friends and family to do the same.

Please don’t forget: Vote Joe Voiland for Ozaukee County Circuit Court Judge!

Thank you so much for your support!

PS: Polls open at 7am and close at 8pm!

Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

The latest round features additional support from non-partisan local officials, lawyers and Ozaukee neighbors who have endorsed me in the race to unseat Judge Tom Wolfgram.

I’ve worked hard to earn the endorsement of well-respected non-partisan officials from every corner of Ozaukee County, members of the legal community and admired neighbors. As I knock on doors sharing my personal and professional experience, my belief in the rule of law and deep respect for impartiality, my support grows across the county.

A non-partisan list of supporters that grows with each passing day, 80-plus members of the legal community including four former or current assistant district attorneys and over 200 friends, family and community leaders speaks to the positive momentum of my candidacy and the issues we’ve addressed during the campaign.

Thank you for your support and be sure to click Endorsements to view the ever-growing list of supporters!

Who doesn’t like to cross things off the to-do list early?

Whether it’s paying a bill, getting your oil changed, or returning the movie you rented, the pressure’s off once it’s done. If something unexpected crops up (as it always does), you don’t have to juggle your schedule because it’s already done!

You know what else is great when done early? VOTING

In less than two weeks, you will have an opportunity to vote for your next Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice. Depending on where you live, you may also vote for mayor, city council members or school board members.

If you live in Ozaukee County, you have a special opportunity.

Residents of Grafton, Mequon, Port Washington and the rest of Ozaukee County have the opportunity to send a clear message to those who think political activity from the bench can go unnoticed: Judges shouldn’t play politics.

Judge Tom Wolfgram signed the politically-motivated petition to recall Governor Scott Walker. I am challenging him this spring because I don’t think a judge should have involved himself in the most politically-motivated action Wisconsin has seen in a generation.

As I knock on doors and attend events throughout the county, I am both encouraged and energized knowing there are so many others that share my belief.

I hope you help to maintain the integrity and neutrality of our judicial system by voting for Joe Voiland for Ozaukee Circuit Court Judge in the Spring Election.

But why wait until April 2? Early voting is open NOW through March 28.

You can learn all about in-person absentee (early) voting at the Government Accountability Board and find out where to vote at My Vote Wisconsin.

Of course, your vote will count just as much if cast on April 2, but why wait? Stop by your municipal clerk and cross VOTE off your to-do list TODAY!

The Opitz endorsement of Voiland is notable, as it was Opitz who first recommended Tom Wolfgram to Governor Tommy Thompson for the judicial position.

“The Tom Wolfgram I endorsed as a circuit court judge nearly twenty years ago, isn’t the same Tom Wolfgram who holds the position today,” Opitz said. “Above all else we expect our judges to exhibit sound judgment and to act with impartiality. Wolfgram’s signing of the Governor Walker recall petition fails on both accounts.”

Judge Wolfgram was appointment by Governor Tommy G. Thompson in 1994. To date, Thompson has declined to endorse in the circuit court race.

“While David’s advice throughout the campaign has been invaluable, it’s his trust in me that I most-appreciate,” said Voiland. “David and I share the belief that impartiality is the standard by which we should measure our judges, and a judge’s impartiality is questioned when he unnecessarily injects himself into pure politics.”

In November of 2011, Judge Wolfgram signed the Governor Walker recall petition nearly six months after Act 10 became law. Defending his signing of the petition, Wolfgram has stated, “It wasn’t a political comment” and “I did not fully understand the proposals.”

Previously, endorsing Voiland are the following representatives of Ozaukee County in the State Legislature: State Senator Alberta Darling, State Representative Jim Ott, State Representative Dan Knodl, and State Representative Duey Stroebel.

Voiland has also earned the endorsements of a long list of non-partisan officials, and has been endorsed by more than twice as many Ozaukee County Supervisors as his opponent:

· Joe Dean, Ozaukee County Supervisor, Port Washington Alderman and former Mayor of Port Washington
· Dan Becker, Ozaukee County Supervisor and President of the Port Washington Common Council
· Don Dohrwardt, Ozaukee County Supervisor and Village of Fredonia Trustee
· Chip Slater, Ozaukee County Supervisor, Mequon
· Jim Uselding, Ozaukee County Supervisor, Cedarburg
· Richard Bauzenberger, Ozaukee County Supervisor, Mequon
· Paul Melotik, Ozaukee County Supervisor, Grafton
· Jake Curtis, Ozaukee County Supervisor, Grafton
· Cheryle Rebholz, Mequon School Board
· David Krier, Cedarburg School Board
· Troy Forrest, Cedarburg School Board
· Jeff Brey, Cedarburg School Board
· David Larson, Port Washington Alderman and Chair of the Finance Committee

The election for Ozaukee Circuit Court is April 2nd.
